Home Again

Well, I just returned from a trip to Israel and have finally finished the quarter and thought that an update was well in order.

So, I'm working on many projects right now but the two that I am most heavily working on are my two sweaters. One is a present, so no pictures until it is finished, and the other one if for myself. Unfortunately I have not taken any pictures of it yet. :( But, once I do I'll post them up!

I finished my DNA scarf and pictures are to come!!

Other projects include a multitude of hats, and possibly another scarf!!! Well, I'll keep you updated on that.

As for exact details on everything...I have to get my life back in order. Once I do I'll give a more detailed post.

Secret Sweater

So, I started up a sweater for Garrick and he knows what the sweater looks like so it is not a big deal that I tell you all it has a wolf on the front. What he doesn't know is the color, so I cannot post any pictures of it until I finish. :( Sorry, you'll just have to be patient and wait and see the finished product, instead of watching the progress.

More on progress, the DNA scarf is coming along. This is the longest it has taken me to make a scarf, but school is school and it does come first. If I have a minute I'll snap some photos and share the progress. I will post the final product's image when it is done, but I don't see it being done any time soon.

What to do with fabric scraps?

So, after modifying a whole pile of t-shirts I had a whole pile of t-shirt scraps. Wanna see what I did with them?

Ok, so maybe I went a little picture happy. :)

DNA Scarf

Here is an update on my DNA Scarf

First, here is the finished gauge swatch:

I love this color, it is bright and cheery to keep the sun going in the winter but it isn't horribly bright so that I could only wear it with certain colors.

Now, for various views of the actual scarf itself. I've completed one go of the pattern and have started the second pass. It's starting to look like DNA!!!

Hopefully next time I post about this scarf the DNA will be finished replicating. We'll see how fast I can knit!!

Much love,
Mel bunny

Knit Spotting at De Anza:

My friend BJ is knitting a scarf with double knitting for the red and white and his own cable pattern  for the green parts. The double knitting will be in the middle for warmth, while the cabling is for style. Below is a close up of the middle of the cabling pattern.

Norwegian Fishing Hat and New Projects!!!

The Norwegian Fishing Hat!!! I made this hat for Alix (the lady in the bottom pic), she didn't mention that she was having a birthday. When asked what she wanted once she mentioned it she was like "something knit", well here it is!! Oh, and Adrian is doing the peace sign (with his face nice and covered) and I look demonic with my horrible red eye.

So, I'm starting a new project (well several new project but this is the first one that I'm starting). This is the beginning of my gauge swatch for a new scarf in with a DNA cable pattern. The pattern I'm using if from: www.twosheep.com/helix and is copyrigted by June Oshiro. After I try out the basic pattern I'm going to try changing up colors and such to get it to look like a picture from a science book. Wish me luck!!

Oh, and YARN!!! I went to Bev's and bought yarn for the three new projects that I am going to be starting. I'll keep you updated!

Regarding my Models and Artists

For some of the ideas for hats I have a hard time visualizing the finished product. So, I have an artist (who draws more than just stick figures) help me out. The sushi hat and davy jones hat was drawn by Tiane, who is also one of the models. Also Onigirli Co was the brainchild of Tiane and myself. And I love her for helping with the concept and continuing to help me with designs!!!

A note on models, I try to not use names of people who do not wish to be named. I wish not to be named, but seeing as I write this blog I have really no choice but full discloser (The name is Melissa).

If any friends who read this (and are near where I live, otherwise it would be hard to get your picture) wish to be models do not hesitate to contact me.

Spring Flowers Ribbon Hat

Well, I was going to call it Magenta Ribbon hat but I already pulled the simple name with the black ribbon hat...so, Spring Flowers (it does look like a field of flowers in person)!!! Do not confuse this with Spring Ribbon hat!!!!
